Fertility Centre launches at Women’s
Every year hundreds of local couples and individuals seek treatment at Birmingham Women’s Hospital to help them realise their dream of starting a family. Success rates are high with more than 200 babies born each year thanks to the fertility help they receive.
On Tuesday 13th July, Birmingham Women’s Hospital are re-launching their Fertility services under the new name Birmingham Women’s Fertility Centre (previously the Assisted Conception Unit). The Centre will continue to provide the expert care to couples and individuals and is keen to attract those seeking fertility support across the region.
With new services including Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis and Specialist Consultants in Reproductive Surgery, this centre of excellence combines all aspects of fertility treatment in one setting.
In addition to fertility treatment, the centre offers fertility preservation services, including an egg freezing programme that has delivered excellent pregnancy rates.
Sarah Cook had a son, now one year, following egg donation treatment at the Women’s, and may well consider further treatment using her frozen embryos. Sarah explained “Our daughter was born with complications and we never thought we could have more children but egg donation treatment at the BWFC gave us the chance to have the family we'd always wanted. At what can be such an emotional rollercoaster of a time, everyone at the clinic was so supportive and understanding, we can't thank them enough and our little boy is an absolute delight"
Joanne Hopcroft underwent a number of IVF cycles for some time, before welcoming their daughter, Bethany, now seven years old, to the family. Joanne explained “We could not have got through the highs and lows of treatment without the wonderful care and support of the staff.”
